Kate graduated from Johnstown High School in 1999. After
high school Kate attended St. Lawrence University for 2 years
but decided to take a year off and train at Vierumaki Sports
Institute in Finland. In 2004 Kate returned stateside to finish
her schooling at the University of New Hampshire, where she
earned her degree in English. Eventually she hopes to earn
a Masters Degree in Elementary Education.
When Kate is not training she works with the Bill Koch skiers
in her hometown and occasionally works with the local high

"I feel that as someone who has enjoyed the benefits
of skiing for 12 years, it is my obligation to share my knowledge
and experience with younger skiers and the community."
At 24 years of age, Kate Underwood just completed her first
season of post collegiate racing. In 05-06, Kate hopes to
continue her progression as a skier and as a member of the
Factory Team; she feels that the team's infrastructure
will allow her to have a breakthrough season. Based on last
years results Kate should be taken as a serious threat for
this year's ASM title and possibly a spot on the U.S Women's
Olympic team.
